I was fishing a beautiful section of water on a hot sunny day last summer searching for a good tug. The water level was approaching summer level, lots of rocks showing. There was one deep pool with some structure farther away from me. I made my first cast no farther than 10 feet in front of me. I began with a slow - medium retrieve to have my spinner met with a force to be reckoned with! I set the hook & the fish took off down stream like a rocket! After battling the fish back up river from the lower rapids of this section. I collected my thoughts & adjusted my drag for the second battle.
The fish got near the shore & started thrashing underneath the water. The Trout saw my net breach the waters surface & bolted down the river once again, this time it really turned it's shoulder using its remaining energy up… or so I thought… After weaving the fish back up river through the low water slots & boulders the Trout jumped 3 times in the deep pool with structure to finish off the show! I extended the Frabill net & scooped up the beautiful 16” Sea Run Cutthroat Trout.
This Sea Run Trout put up a very memorable battle & not to mention how beautiful this Trout truly is! The spinner that was used to catch was a 1/8oz Silver Miner Ripper.
